President Bush Needs A Blog

I’ve been digging through Howard Dean’s blog and I’ve concluded that he’s done an excellent job. Not only that, it’s a grassroots method of campaigning and Presidential candidates without them will look lame by comparison.

President Bush has a website, but what he needs is a blog. I even called the number at the bottom of his site and told the person that answered the phone as much. Republicans excel at grassroots campaigning, Dean’s comments to the contrary notwithstanding, but they risk missing an incredible opportunity and a way of sending their message without it being filtered through the existing media. It’s an online rapid-response mechanism and can be done about as quickly as one can type.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you, Mr. President.

P.S. While you’re at it, drop Cheney and add Rice to the ticket. It’s best for the party.

UPDATE: Dean might be lacking in one respect: he doesn’t appear to be pinging weblogs.com. Maybe it’s on purpose because he figures he doesn’t need the traffic, but it’s a mistake.
